Our June 16 fundraiser was a huge success! Donations are still coming in, please feel free to contribute at any time and receive your "Preserve Our White Plains Neighborhoods" car magnet. All funds raised from this event will be used to engage the expertise needed to help us evaluate the French school’s application for a regional educational complex at the former Ridgeway Country Club site.

Dear Neighbors:

First, a big “thank you!” to everyone who contributed and attended the fundraiser on June 16 at the Woman’s Club. It was a tremendous success! Almost 200 people attended and we exceeded our initial fundraising goals. We are well on our way to being prepared to hire appropriate expertise to review the French School’s application. Also, thank you to Midge Sanchez, one of our Gedney Association board members, who chaired the event. The entire fundraising committee did an outstanding job.

There are recent developments concerning the former Ridgeway Country Club property. The City’s Administration has proposed a new zone, a parks and recreation zone, for several large undeveloped properties including the Ridgeway property. The details have not yet come to light and we hope to email more information concerning the proposed zoning law changes to you in the near future. Please note, that there is a Common Council meeting scheduled for the evening of Tuesday, July 5 at 7:30. Please make plans to attend to hear more details and to demonstrate to the Council your interest in the plans for the former Ridgway CC property.

Meanwhile, I thought you might be interested in another insightful letter from Ellen Lee, one of our neighbors. The letter speaks for itself and reprinted in our Letters about FASNY section. Also, there is a diagram of the latest rendition of the School’s plans at the end of this letter.
